I don’t know about you, but when I pack for a vacation, the first thing I lay out is my work out clothes and running shoes. I have always felt that fitness and being active as much as possible is the best way to get to know a new place. I wake up in the morning, throw on my running shoes, and head out to get an overall showcase of the city. That way, when I go back later to tour, I already have an idea of what is around me. Luckily, I’m not the only traveler who feels the need to be active this way. In fact, quite a few people agree with me that active tours are the best way to get to know a country – especially Israel.
When Niv Zinder and Tony Felzen met through exercise (Tony was a private client of Niv’s), they together formulated a wonderful idea, fitness / active tours in Israel. Niv is a native Israeli living in New York, and has been involved in sports and an active lifestyle since he can remember himself. He played basketball for many years in the European league, and in college, and later went on to get his license in personal training. Before that, he was even a fitness trainer in the IDF. Niv often finds that his clients would love to travel in Israel, but wouldn’t necessarily just go on their own without some framework involved. Tony, a native New Yorker and lover of Israel, had a goal in mind to show Israel as an amazing place visit, and be active and get fit while doing so. And so, Holy Fit Active in Israel tour was born. As Niv told me, “Fitness in Israel is a win win situation”. Tourists don’t only see the country, they experience it through their feet. They sweat into the holy land and make it their own.
The idea of Holy Fit is to combine travel with fitness. Each day, Niv leads the work outs, combining all types of active exercises, and Puzzle Israel’s expert team leads the touring aspects of the itinerary. The itinerary includes all of the highlights of Israel, from Jerusalem and Tel Aviv, to the Golan and the Negev. As Tony put it, there is so much to experience – cuisine, culture, multiple terrains, and more – and combining fitness into the experience is a great way for first timers and anyone who has visited before alike to appreciate the country.
As someone who has experienced and appreciated Israel through fitness, I can truly say that Holy Fit has the right idea. Israel is a fit, active and nutritious country, one only has to immerse himself to see that!
